Strength in Seasons Programme
The Zachary Geddis Trust’s Strength in Seasons initiative directly supports the Protect Life 2 suicide prevention strategy by building community resilience and reducing stigma. Our workshops offer practical support within a welcoming and safe community setting, helping identify those at risk and empowering individuals and groups to respond effectively to mental health concerns. Through awareness raising, skills training and targeted outreach, we play a vital role in increasing the mental health and wellbeing of the individuals who attend.
Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing
Strength in seasons naturally aligns with the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing by encouraging people to connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give. These workshops reinforce everyday habits that promote emotional resilience and overall well-being through interactive, educational, and supportive sessions. They are an effective tool for embedding the Take 5 principles within the community.
Mental Health Strategy for Northern Ireland
Our mental health initiative, through a Strength in Seasons long-term programme, directly supports the aims of the Mental Health Strategy for Northern Ireland by:
- Promoting early intervention and prevention through awareness-raising, resilience-building, and practical coping tools.
- Reducing stigma and encouraging open discussions around mental health in communities.
- Supporting self-oriented care by encouraging individuals with lived experience and promoting self-help approaches.
- Enhancing community-based support and improving access to mental health resources outside of formal clinical settings. Strengthening the workforce by training volunteers in mental health awareness and response.
- Contributing to a whole system approach, complementing statutory services and supporting cross-sector collaboration.
